HRVRC: Advocating for Options

[April 23rd, 2010]

Have you ever wanted to bike from Hood River to Bingen? Ever feel like there needs to be improved regional coordination in public transportation options? Have you ever felt like you would like to ride your bike to work, or encourage your chlld to ride or walk school, but it just seemed to unsafe because our roads lacks shoulders and are not designed for bicycles?

While HRVRC's core mission is around protecting farm and forestland, over the last year, the organization has begun working on a key unmet need in Hood River and the Central Gorge: transportation options.

We understand there are hills in Hood River. And wind. And rain. Yet we also think many more people would use transportation options - buses, bicycles, trains, van pools - if improvements were made in infrastructure and options. HRVRC is working with citizens and local and regional policy makers to make improvements.
