Citizen Involvement
[November 6th, 2009]
One of HRVRC three-part mission is education. Through relevant and timely educational opportunities, we believe citizens will increase their effectiveness, increasing the opportunity to positively impact Hood River Valley and Oregon's future.
HRVRC organizes opportunities on our own or partners with other local or state organizations to provide educational opportunities relevant to our mission. These opportunities occur in a variety of formats including: forums, classes, program development with schools, and via informal small group discussion.
Talking with legislators about issues in our community is another realm of citizen involvement. Depending on the political climate and if the legislature is in full session or not that year, HRVRC will organize small groups 1-2 times per year and head to Salem to talk with legislators and or testify at relevant hearings.
We are welcome to your ideas. Please contact us if you are interested in collaborating on educational issue that is relevant to our mission of protecting farm and forestland and promoting livable communities in the Hood River Valley.
