HRVRC Hosts Wind Forum

[May 28th, 2010]

HRVRC & CGEC hosted the Hood River Wind Forum on Thursday, May 13 at the Columbia Gorge Hotel. Attended by nearly 100 people, the forum offered perspectives from five panelist, Q & A with audience, and an opportunity for citizens to make 2ish minute comments.

Takeaways from forum:

  • There is a need for citizen education regarding both understanding the laws that govern energy development in Oregon, as well as how to plan for future turbine proposals on private land in the Hood River Valley. With one private developer in the pre-application process (Fir Mountain), we expect there will be more.
  • Organizing and hosting this forum was challenging, but important. HRVRC will continue, with your support, to host intruiging discussoins on topics that matter to this community.
  • Comments submitted from citizens who attended the forum are available here.
  • PDFs of presentations by panelist are available here. Video of the forum is available, but unedited. Contact HRVRC if interested.
