Whistling Ridge Energy Project

On May 21, the Washington State Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC) released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Whistling Ridge Energy Project. Proposed by Whistling Ridge Energy LLC, a subsidiary of SDS Lumber Company, this approximately 75-megawatt (MW) wind energy facility would be located about seven miles west of the City of White Salmon in Skamania County, Washington. The project would be located on an approximately 1,152-acre project site that is private land currently actively used for commercial timber harvest. Up to 50 wind turbines, each ranging in size from 1.2 to 2.5 megawatts (MW) and up to 426 feet tall, would be installed for the project.

Comments will be accepted through July 19, 2010.
