Port intern considers bicycle and bridge conundrum

There’s a question that nags you while you wait in line to pay the bridge toll. Or maybe it comes to you while you are riding your bike in view of the 0.8-mile span of steel that connects Washington and Oregon across the Columbia River.

“Why can’t I ride my bike across the Hood River Bridge?”

Cyclists will be happy to hear that the Port of Hood River is now asking the question “How can we get bikes across the Hood River Bridge?”

The port, in partnership with Hood River Valley Residents Committee (HRVRC), has hired a summer intern to explore options for ferrying bikes and pedestrians across the bridge.
